Project Manager
May 1 - Oct 5, 2010 The Sixth Borough Art Exhibit, Governor's Island, New York, NY
The Sixth Borough , curated by Manon Slome and Julian Navarro, entails a series of site specific installations in the old colonel houses on Governor's Island. There were 20 artists exhibiting from all over the world. The initial work involved planning the installation process by taking into account the curators and artists requirements and those of the island's authorities which had very restrictive rules. And then co-ordinating and motivating team members (who were all volunteers) to help artists in their installations and help set up the opening event for the exhibit. Other parallel works involved constant communication with artists, curators, team members, art-handlers and the island authorities; maintaining accounts; work flow statements and designing forms for easy collection of information.
24hr Draw-a-thon
Jul 9 @ 6:00pm - Jul 10 @ 6:00pm, 2010 East Harlem, New York, NY
The 24hr draw-a-thon in east Harlem was on-site at No Longer Empty's (NLE) Weaving In and Out, a public art exhibit. Manny Vega (NLE featured artist), led this event. Drawing in the empty store-front of a new building was a great experience. There was art around to inspire, NLE members to cheer and passerbys to look at your work, get inspired and pick up the paper and pencil to draw. An even more exciting thing was having artists in Puerto Rico drawing in the same time zone and having to constantly communicate with them through the web camera!

373 K Brooklyn Transitional High School, Brooklyn, NY
New York Cares Day is the organization's largest volunteer day, mobilizing 8,000 volunteers to over 100 NYC public schools. The event is a 'serve-a-thon', in which volunteers raise money in honor of their work they do (like a traditional walk-a-thon). They Paint murals, classrooms, and school exteriors—transform drab spaces into bright, colorful, inviting places for children and community members to enjoy. The work involved conceptualizing and illustrating a mural sized 15' x 7' for the school's cafeteria and later guide the volunteers to paint them. It is about 2 weeks effort where you initially visit the site, talk to the school principal and teachers to find out what they want reflected in the mural, make a sketch, get it approved, transfer it on the wall and then make color codes for volunteers to paint.
Art Workshop
Jan 31, 2004
Standard Chartered Bank, Chennai, India
To wiggle out some right brain thinking from the bank managers and staff of Standard Chartered bank, I conducted this workshop called the "Right Side Up". It was a 3hr workshop where after a talk and a few exercises on right brain thinking, the audience were asked to paint the canvas. Surprisingly for many of them, it was the first time they were even holding a brush or even finding the confidence to paint a stroke on the canvas!
